Big business thanks to Aggie football game

BRIAN, Texas (KBTX) – Businesses at the Bryan College Station are feeling the economic turmoil as the Texas A&M football team hosts its third straight game.

Blake Bodin of Aggieland Outfitters said: “We’ve seen a huge increase in foot traffic, so we’re starting to have more in-store events.”

Expect an even bigger push as big names like Miami come to town this weekend for Saturday night’s games.

“It’s one of those games that we, as retailers, look forward to time and time again,” Bodin said.

This weekend and this month brought optimism for businesses, especially after two years of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s hard for everyone to get back to the highs from such lows,” said Jeremiah Cook, who visited the University Station. “But I think we’re all optimistic about what fall brings.”

More people means more business. Destination Bryan hopes shops, stores and restaurants will take advantage of the growing crowd.

Destination Bryan’s Abigail Noel said: “This is a really great opportunity for businesses not just to make some extra sales and revenue but to really make their name known to a completely different audience.”

Kyle Field was busy in September with three games, but in October the Aggies only have one home game, so visiting college station and destination Brian is working hard to still have plenty to do when the game ends in town .
