American Idol runner-up Willie Spencer dies in a car crash in the United States.
A Tennessee Highway Patrol report said the 23-year-old singer “off the road” in his Jeep Cherokee and collided with the back of a hard-shouldered tractor-trailer parked near Chattanooga, Tennessee After losing his life. Marion County Medical Examiner.
Spencer, from Georgia, finished second in season 19 of “American Idol” last year behind Chase Beckham.
Both Spence and the 68-year-old tow truck driver were reportedly wearing seat belts.
Marion County Medical Examiner Barbara O’Neill said the cause of death was “multisystem trauma from a motor vehicle accident” and Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday.
A spokesman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the agency was investigating why Spencer’s car veered off the road.
The singing competition show issued a statement saying Spencer “was a true genius who lit up every room he entered”.
“We are saddened by the passing of our beloved American Idol family member Willie Spencer,” the statement said.
“Our condolences go out to his family.”
American Idol star Alyssa Wray said in an Instagram post that she was “deeply heartbroken” and described Spencer as “the soul people are drawn to.”
Spence’s acting journey began with Rihanna’s Diamonds audition performance, when he auditioned in front of judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
Hours before the crash, Spencer posted a video of himself singing “You Are My Hiding Place” on his Instagram page. Many people left tributes under his latest post.
According to a post on his Instagram, Spencer will perform in London next month.
