US SBA provides support for small businesses through Saturday

Buckhannon, West Virginia (WBOY) – Karen Friel, West Virginia Regional Director for the US Small Business Administration, visited Philippi, Belington and Buckhannon in November. 18 Encourage people to shop small and shop locally.

Friel visited Winnie’s Attic, LLC in Philippi, Tygart Valley Supply, LLC in Belington, Mountain Mama Market+Artistry, LLC in Buckhannon, and The Coop at Fish Hawk Acres.

The small businesses visited were awarded certificates of recognition for the support they provide to their communities.

“Small Business Saturday, obviously the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which is November 26, but one of the things we want to instill is that not just that day, but all the way through the holidays, it’s important to be able to support where you are local small businesses in the community,” Friel said.

“It’s nice to have … you know, it’s been great for our marketing, getting our business out there, and I don’t think a lot of people even in our small town realize we’re here, So it warms my heart that they took the time to do this for us today,” said Shanda Hoover, owner of Mountain Mama Market + Artistry.

Mountain Mama Market + Artistry is located at 16 Buckhannon N Kanawha St. Their hours of operation are Tuesday to Friday 11am to 4pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm.
