Thai temple leaves without any monks after none of them passed drug test | World News

A Thai temple has been left empty after all monks failed drug tests and were expelled.

Four monks, including the abbot, were forced to leave their monkhood after urine tests showed evidence of illegal drugs, the Bangkok Post reported.

Police and health officials raided small religious sites in Phetchabun province on Monday.

The departure of the monks has caused panic in the local community, which relies on them for religious practice.

There are also concerns about what will happen to the dogs and cats who also live at the temple.

District officials have contacted the head of the monastery in the Bung Sam Phan area, who promised to assign some monks to the temple.
