Salisbury city centre gets small business grant

SALISBURY, N.C. (WBTV) – Downtown Salisbury Inc. (DSI) has received a $25,000 Hometown Revitalization Grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to support downtown businesses.

“We are honored and grateful to be one of 20 organizations nominated as recipients of Duke Energy Grants in the most recent round of giving,” said Sada Troutman of Salisbury Downtown. “Director. “Needless to say, small businesses across the country have been trying hard over the past few years, and downtown Salisbury is no exception. This $25,000 will allow DSI to create a grant program that will provide funding for small businesses, to achieve the vision and business expansion. This will continue to make downtown Salisbury a vibrant community asset and destination for visitors and residents.”

The Supportive Small Business Support Award will focus on businesses with fewer than 50 employees, small businesses should have a storefront in a designated Salisbury City Centre Municipal Service District (MSD). Business owners located within the MSD confines of downtown Salisbury are invited to apply for grants between $500 and $2,500.

Appropriate small business spending may include:

  • Enhanced service or business opportunity
  • Furniture to expand outdoor capacity
  • Store beautification
  • Tools or programs to support the workforce needs of the business

Grant applications will be submitted by 9am on Friday, October 9th. 28. Available through the Downtown Salisbury, Inc website or at the DSI office at 217 S. Main Street. Completed grant applications will be submitted to Downtown Salisbury, Inc by Wednesday, December 21st.
