Risch Names Dragon Fly Tarps Small Business of the Month for November – Press Release

washington – Today, U.S. Senator Jim Risch, ranking member and former chair of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, announced the selection of Dragon Fly Tarps as Idaho’s November 2022 Small Business of the Month. Contributions of Dragon Fly Tarps will be recognized to the community in the United States Senate Congressional Record.

Since 2003, Dragon Fly Tarps started making quality custom awnings and tarps after what was on the market couldn’t meet the needs of owner Matt Nelson. Matt and his wife Stephanie spent years designing and sewing tarps for friends and family in their basements before moving their business to Arco’s Business Incubation Center in Butte, Idaho.

Since 2018, the Nelsons have been at their current location on Arco Grande Drive where they have been able to expand their product line to include tarps for Jeeps, campers, vans and custom projects. While Dragon Fly Tarps once relied on word of mouth recommendations, they have become well known in the outdoor recreation community and internationally.

“Through innovation and entrepreneurship, the Nielsen family turned a personal need for affordable, high-quality tarps into a successful small business that continues to create great products,” Risch said.

“Congratulations to Dragon Fly Tarps for being a November 2022 Idaho Small Business,” Risch continued. “You have made our great country proud and I look forward to your continued growth and success.”

background: Idaho is consistently ranked as one of the best places in America to do business. Each month, Senator Risch selects an Idaho small business that exemplifies Idaho’s values of hard work, entrepreneurship and an exceptional commitment to the community.
