Mother wanted for murder after boy found dead in suitcase | US News

The mother of a boy who was found dead inside a suitcase in rural Indiana is wanted by police on suspicion of murder.

The five-year-old boy was named by police as Cairo Amar Jordan of Atlanta, Georgia.

Police said arrest warrants were issued Oct. 14 for Cairo’s mother, Dejaune Ludie Anderson, 37, also of Atlanta, and Dawn Elaine Coleman, 40, of Shreveport, Louisiana.

Both were charged with neglect of dependents causing death and obstruction of justice.

Police said Anderson issued a second warrant for murder in connection with his son’s death.

Indiana State Trooper Kerry Hulls said Anderson remains at large and has traveled to Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco since her son’s body was found in April.

Coleman was arrested Oct. 19 in San Francisco, Sgt. Huls said.

Investigators found Coleman and Anderson’s fingerprints on a black plastic bag inside the suitcase where the boy’s body was kept, according to an affidavit filed Oct. 14.

Sergeant Huls confirmed “physical evidence leading to suspect” in Cairo’s death.

The affidavit contains posts that Anderson allegedly made on her Facebook account, including after her April 11 release from a prison in Louisville, Kentucky, on a shoplifting charge.

In the posts, Anderson wrote that “just got out of jail duty” and “yes, some healing and killing has to be done,” the affidavit said.

In a series of earlier Facebook posts, Anderson allegedly discussed exorcism, spells and other paranormal topics. A post on February 19 mentioned “there is a very powerful demonic force in my son”.

“The whole case is about justice in Cairo. That’s what this case is all about,” Sergeant Hulls said.

“Justice for everyone means bringing to justice those responsible for his death.”

Boy’s body found Mushroom pickers in a suitcase in the woodland on April 16.

Police said in May that an autopsy found the boy died of an electrolyte imbalance, possibly caused by gastroenteritis or dehydration from vomiting and diarrhea.

Investigators said the boy had died less than a week before the body was found.

He was buried in Salem, Indiana, in June, about 35 miles away, and was led by a police chaplain who said the boy, who has not yet been identified, was an “unknown angel.”

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation helped Indiana authorities contact Cairo’s father. The boy was supposed to be six on Monday.
