Maine Veterans Project Partners with Brewer Businesses to Keep Maine Veterans Warm This Winter

Brewer, Maine (WABI) – Maine is known for many things: blueberries, lobster and whooping pie, to name a few.

But another thing that makes our state unique is the way Mainers take care of each other.

It’s a feeling you wish you could put away. Now you can—thanks to a partnership between Maine Veterans Products and a Brewer-based business.

“Right now, it’s all about Maine veterans,” said Daniel Finnemore, president and CEO of Box of Maine, Maine.

The idea behind Brewer’s Box of Maine is self-explanatory. You grab a box full of select produce from the Pine Tree State.

The state’s newest addition is a cedar dog tag ornament.

“We were like, ‘Hey, let’s make a Maine-made item, like everything else we have, we’re going to put it in the box part and provide 100% heating for Maine veterinarians Oil,'” Finnemore explained.

These ornaments are also sold separately. Either way, local veterans benefit.

“This collaborative team effort is really special because it really needs the community to help the community, and that’s exactly what’s happening right now. At the peak of our need, when our budget was at its lowest ever, we got the community There is more support than ever before,” said Doc Goodwin, President of Maine Veterans Programs.

For this collaboration, there is no question as to where the funds raised will go.

“The heating oil was going through the roof. I went to buy it at about five o’clock, and it felt like it was going to be hard for me. There were other people who needed some help,” Finnemore said.

“Traditionally, we start receiving orders for heating fuel around this time of year. We [already] Over 1,200 gallons of water are now flowing out. Even though we have an amazing partnership with RH Foster, they did work with us on pricing, and they matched the full 1,000 gallons, we still pay last year’s top price as this year’s starting price,” Goodwin said.

So go ahead – grab a Moxie or a pack of Red Snapper. While you do, help Maine veterinarians by adding a dog tag to your tree.

After all, what could be more important in Maine?

“Let’s join together as a community. Maine is famous for it. We want to be famous at Box of Maine, so let’s do it,” Finnemore said.

You can buy decorations at boxofmaine.com or at their store on Abbot Street in Brewer.

There is also the option to sponsor a box for a soldier, giving the gift to Mainers serving overseas.
