Local businesses hold auto show to raise money for blood cancer research and advocacy

Eau Claire, Wisconsin (WEAU) – A local business holds a car show to raise money for cancer research and advocacy.

Eau Claire’s Builders FirstSource hosted a fundraiser that raised $6,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The money will also be used for an upcoming event in Harriet Island, Minnesota.

“We’re trying to raise money for the community and light up the nightly event that the LLS does, which will take place on September 22 on Harriet Island in the Twin Cities,” said Ryan Anger, who organized the auto show Saturday afternoon.

For those who want to get into their car or even just watch and enjoy the auto show, this event is $5.

“If you get into a car, you get a ping pong ball, and that ping pong ball has a number on it and it’s tied to an actual donated prize. So anything from a six-month membership to a local gym or hat place. So it’s all luck of the draw,” Anger said.

Builders FirstSource has held other events to raise money for LLS, but the idea of a car show was new.

“Somebody, somebody came up with the idea of a car show to raise some money. We all got in. It seems, you know, we spread the word, well, it seems like a lot of people got in.”

They hope to bring the auto show back next year.

“We plan to do this in the next few years,” Anger said.
