Local business owners unite to honor Sandy Hook victims – NBC Connecticut

Two local business owners are teaming up to honor the victims of the Sandy Hook school shooting.

Julie Buonanno owns The Mixing Bowl and designs “Be Kind” sweatshirts. They also have 26 flowers, one each representing the lives lost in Newtown on December 14, 2012.

The sweatshirts are sold at Castor and Poly on Old Wethersfield High Street. Owner Bianca Bruno said they sold dozens of items at the small business Saturday, raising about $2,500.

All proceeds from sweatshirt sales will go to Sandy Hook Promise. Sandy Hook Promise is a national non-profit organization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Buonanno says the sweatshirt reminds us to always be kind and reminds us of the 26 angels smiling at us.

The sweatshirts come in adult and kids sizes and are still available at Castor and Poly and their website.
