BEL PREY, Ohio (WTAP) – This Thursday, Smiles on the Boulevard is offering free dental care to veterans to honor their military service and give back.
Veterans can get free cleaning, filling, extraction and more.
Dr. Lori Hawkins said the tradition began eight years ago in response to what she described as a lack of veteran care in the VA system.
Now, many years later, the initiative is still going strong.
“We love it. It’s our favorite day of the year because we really wanted to have the opportunity to pay tribute to those who have given so much to our country,” Hawkins said.
When WTAP spoke with Hawkins earlier in the afternoon, she said they were on schedule to provide about $10,000 worth of free dental care for the day.
