Letter to the editor:
I have attended multiple candidate meetups and forums. There are two clear people I know that will play a role from day one.
They are current city staff Zizette Mullins and current Sharon Springer. Both have been in public service for many years.
Another reason is that Olive Ave won’t be permanently destroyed!
Although the current city council voted 5-0 against Metro’s plan to eliminate two bus lanes, the problem is far from over. The Metro board, which includes supervisor Kathryn Barger and Glendale councillor Ara Najarian, voted unanimously in favour of moving forward with demolition and against Mixed Flow, which the council and staff support.
Zizette Mullins does support safe, alternative and reliable transportation and opposes the removal of 2 lanes because of the impact on local businesses and senior centers. Sharon Springer, also a transportation advocate, voted against it for similar reasons.
I worry that several other candidates will completely condone Metro’s plans to the detriment of our own interests.
