Grand jury indicts man in 2019 murder of business owner

Paynesville, Ohio (WOIO) – A Lake County grand jury indicts a 20-year-old man with the September 2019 murder of Paynesville resident and Ashtabura business owner Timothy Mayola ( Timothy Meola).

Paynesville police arrested Demarco Jones of Willowick on July 28. He was only 17 years old at the time of the murder.

Jones is now charged with the following counts:

  • aggravated murder
  • aggravated robbery
  • aggravated burglary
  • motor vehicle thief
  • Tamper Evidence
  • robbery
  • Burglary

Mayora, 65, was found dead at her Mentor Avenue home on September 6. July 7, 2019.

Jones holds $2 million in bonds. His next court appearance date has not yet been set.
