Daycare worker charged with child abuse by wearing Halloween masks to frighten children U.S. News

Five daycare workers donned Halloween masks and chased frightened children at a Mississippi nursery after they were charged with child abuse.

Video shared online showing Monroe County workers wearing GhostFace masks from the horror movie The Scream went viral.

Shocked parents saw staff sneaking up on children who then started screaming and crying.

That prompted an investigation by the Mississippi Department of Health and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Sky News partner NBC reported.

Four of those employees now face three felony counts of child abuse, and one-fifth faces unreported abuse and simple assault on a minor.

At one point in the video, a masked employee points to a child and looks at an unmasked employee, who replies, “Not good.”

Nursery owner Sheila Sanders previously told local newspaper The Daily Monroe that she fired the employee involved after learning of the incident, which she said she didn’t know about until she heard the video.

“I don’t condone, and never have,” Sanders told the paper.
