A historic building in Gladewater city centre has new owners and a new location in the future of the city centre.
Brittni Pierson and her business partner Lana Neimann purchased the St. Clare Antiques Emporium at 104 Pacific Avenue. This past summer.
Pearson said the building has existed since the 1940s and was at one point home to St. Peter’s Basilica. Claire Hotel and Cafe. Both women own other businesses, and Pearson said they have an “entrepreneurial spirit.” She said buying the building was one way they were helping to revitalize downtown Gladwater.
“We really wanted to bring in something new and get more East Texans to visit their own local attractions,” Pearson said, adding that Gladewater has a “downtown cool” The Winery”, a hot tea shop, is now a new place to eat. Pierson and Neimann continue to run the antique shop, but they also open The Clair Cafe & Tea Room in the building.
Clair Café serves hot teas made with loose leaf teas from Three Roots Boutique in downtown Gladewater. The menu features espresso drinks, scones and other pastries, as well as panini and cold sandwiches, soups and salads.
Pierson and Neimann remodeled the first floor of the building. After the first year of this year, they will begin converting the upper floors into 13 luxury bed and breakfast rooms, several of which will feature kitchenettes.
