Boston honors beloved owner of Hicks Auto Body by naming plaza after him

Hick’s Auto Body has been a staple of the Dorchester community for over half a century. Owner Willie Hicks has given back time and time again, and now it’s his turn to take it. It was hard, but I didn’t give up,” he said. Hicks Auto Body opened in the same building in Dorchester 52 years ago. Now 85, Hicks built his business and life. He is Father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who now runs the business with son Willie Hicks Jr. “My son is an amazing person. I thank God for him every day,” he said. The Hicks family works hard and does a great job by doing good and giving back to the community. “I’m there for them — whether it’s baseball, the Boys and Girls Club, church or society . I was always there for them,” said Mr. Hicks Sr.. The community Hicks Sr. works in and is always appreciated. Thank you cards adorn the office, along with memorabilia and photos, including a meeting with former Boston Mayor Tom Menino (Tom Menino). Now, the city will honor Mr. Hicks Sr. in a very special way: a town square will be named after him. “I’m shocked. I can’t believe something like this could happen to a little guy like me,” he said. “We know, as far as the inscription goes, it’s going to say, ‘Willy Hicks Sr. Path.’ ‘ I think it’s perfect because the aboriginal for the word path is Mr Hicks. His life path, the geographic path of his community, and his path to success,” Hicks Jr. said.

“I used to work, so, like my people work every day and then drive a cab on the weekends, it was difficult to save up to start a business, but I didn’t give up,” he said.
