Phoenix has rapidly evolved into a central player in the global semiconductor industry, marked by hosting significant events and attracting substantial investments.
Hosting SEMICON West
In October 2025, Phoenix welcomed SEMICON West, the premier microelectronics industry conference, to the Phoenix Convention Center. This marked the first time in over 30 years that the event was held outside the Bay Area, underscoring Phoenix’s growing prominence in the semiconductor sector. The conference attracted over 35,000 attendees, making it the most attended SEMICON West to date, and generated millions in tourism revenue for the local economy. The event is scheduled to return to Phoenix in 2027 and 2029, alternating with San Francisco in even years.
Global Chamber Semiconductor Summit
Further solidifying its position, Phoenix hosted the 5th Annual Global Chamber® Semiconductor Summit in February 2026 at the Thunderbird School of Global Management. The summit focused on connecting companies into the global semiconductor supply chain, featuring discussions on international trade policies and workforce development. Notable figures, including Senator Mark Kelly and Mayor Kate Gallego, emphasized the importance of Phoenix’s role in the global semiconductor landscape.
Economic Impact and Future Prospects
The relocation of SEMICON West and the hosting of the Global Chamber Semiconductor Summit highlight Phoenix’s strategic importance in the semiconductor industry. Since 2020, over 60 chip companies have expanded or moved to Arizona, resulting in a $205 billion investment. These developments not only boost the local economy but also position Phoenix as a key player in shaping the future of global technology.
