Wendy’s is adding its first holiday Frosty

Wendy’s will be selling Mint Frosty for a limited time starting next Tuesday. This is the chain’s second new flavor to launch in 2022, marking a notable shift at Wendy’s in expanding beyond traditional chocolate and vanilla: Mint is the third new Frosty flavor to launch in the U.S. in the past 16 years.

Peppermint replaced the strawberry flavor, which launched last summer, and sold so well that the company accelerated plans for another new Frosty flavor.
Wendy's Peppermint Cream goes on sale next week.

“People love strawberry frosting so much, we know it’s important to get another flavor and one that goes well with the holidays,” Wendy’s chief marketing officer Carl Loredo said in an exclusive interview with CNN Business. “Mint It’s fantastic and it’s a great way to ring during the holiday season.”

Loredo declined to give specific sales figures for Strawberry Frosty, saying only that the chain has had such “great success” with it that it wants to keep the momentum going.

“It’s an accelerated path, but it’s something we’ve been working on for years,” he said. “[Peppermint] is a flavor we know consumers love – and ultimately, the commercial part [was an aspect] We need to finalize it soon, but this is our idea. “

Mint is here too Meaning the vanilla flavor won’t come back for the rest of the year. As for what’s next, Loredo said he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Wendy’s added a new Frosty flavor in 2023.

Wendy’s (win) Won’t confuse its frosty taste as often McDonald’s (MCD) Its McFlurry lineup does. In 2019, the company launched the birthday cake Frosty for a limited time on its 50th birthday. Vanilla frosting was added to the menu in 2006, and strawberries were briefly sold this past year.
Seasonal foods and beverages are often a boon for fast food restaurants. Dunkin’ and Starbucks launch holiday-themed drinks every year, and McDonald’s offers an annual promotion in December.
